Seasoned leader and policy advisor, Lorraine Royer joins NAIT’s Board of Governors bringing with her a wealth of experience in stakeholder relations, government affairs, community engagement and communications, as well as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) plans and execution.

She assumed the role on March 29, 2023.

As general manager of policy and governments for Inter Pipeline LTD (IPL), Royer oversees policies and programs that intersect with people, communities, governments and organizations where IPL seeks to operate sustainably and to develop new prospects for growth.

Prior to joining IPL, Royer was the manager of stakeholder and corporate relations for Williams Energy Canada before it was acquired by IPL in 2016. She also spent time at Global Public Affairs and Enbridge Inc., with a focus on government relations in both roles. Prior to coming to Alberta, Royer worked in Ottawa serving as senior policy advisor to former member of Parliament Ralph Goodale.

Royer already has a strong connection with NAIT through the Plastics Research in Action initiative – a $10 million, 10-year collaboration between NAIT and Heartland Polymers, IPL’s polypropylene brand, to advance the reuse and recycling of plastic in Canada and around the world.
