Even the smallest event carries with it some degree of risk. From weather-related disasters to personal injury, from transportation issues to supplier cancellations, the possible risks are endless. Indeed, failure to calculate such risks can result in situations that may impact not only the success of the event but also the health and safety of event guests.
This course will look at the four stages of Risk Management: Planning, Mitigation, Response and Recovery. Each stage plays an important role in understanding what risks could arise during an event and how you would create a plan for them.
Students will have an opportunity to work through real-life case studies as well as to learn through first-hand experiences (locally, nationally and internationally) shared by professional planner. By the end of the course, students will be able to create and execute risk management plans for their own events.
