Our Skilled Trades diploma and certificate programs provide you with a direct pathway into trades training without having to find employment first. NAIT combines technical and career-essential skills with the latest technology, so you can hit the ground running after you graduate.
After completing a diploma or certificate program, you have the option to complete apprenticeship hours that can lead you to a Journeyperson Certificate.
NAIT prepares you with technical and career-essential skills including collaboration, communication, problem solving and professionalism. Get ahead by entering the job market with the knowledge and skills employers are looking for.
After graduation, you have the option to complete apprenticeship hours that can lead to a Journeyperson Certificate. Alternatively, you can immediately start your career using your diploma or certificate credentials.
Unlike the apprenticeship pathway, you do not have to be employed and apply with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) to join the program. Instead you can apply to NAIT directly.
If you graduate with a diploma, you’ll have the opportunity to further your education with NAIT’s post-diploma programs such as the Bachelor of Technology, Bachelor of Business Administration and Data Analytics Certificate. These programs are not accessible in the traditional apprenticeship pathway.
The Advanced Plumbing Technology diploma is a unique opportunity to get the technical and career essential skills you need to succeed in the plumbing industry.
The Advanced Welding Technology diploma goes beyond the Alberta Welder Apprenticeship training.
The Automotive Service Technology Diploma program provides training in automotive repair and diagnostics, including soft skills such as professionalism, to advance career opportunities for students.
Baking and Pastry Arts diploma program focuses on the art and science of bread, cake and pastry making, including cake design and decorating, confectionary training
The Building Environmental Systems Technology program focuses on the engineering theory and conceptual aspects of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration

The Electrical Installations Technology diploma offers a direct pathway into trades training at NAIT without having to first be an indentured apprentice.
The Industrial Heavy Equipment Technology diploma program with teach you how to diagnose and repair machinery in the heavy equipment industry competently and safely.
CNC Machinist certificate provides skills and knowledge in conventional machine operations on drill presses, lathes, milling machines and various grinding machines
