School of Skilled Trades Diploma and Certificate Programs

Your future in the trades starts at NAIT!

Our Skilled Trades diploma and certificate programs provide you with a direct pathway into trades training without having to find employment first. NAIT combines technical and career-essential skills with the latest technology, so you can hit the ground running after you graduate.

After completing a diploma or certificate program, you have the option to complete apprenticeship hours that can lead you to a Journeyperson Certificate.

Why choose a diploma or certificate pathway?

Greater earning potential and job opportunities

NAIT prepares you with technical and career-essential skills including collaboration, communication, problem solving and professionalism. Get ahead by entering the job market with the knowledge and skills employers are looking for.

Flexibility to pursue your Journeyperson Certificate

After graduation, you have the option to complete apprenticeship hours that can lead to a Journeyperson Certificate. Alternatively, you can immediately start your career using your diploma or certificate credentials.

A quick pathway into the trades

Unlike the apprenticeship pathway, you do not have to be employed and apply with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) to join the program. Instead you can apply to NAIT directly.

Access to further education

If you graduate with a diploma, you’ll have the opportunity to further your education with NAIT’s post-diploma programs such as the Bachelor of Technology, Bachelor of Business Administration and Data Analytics Certificate. These programs are not accessible in the traditional apprenticeship pathway.
