NAIT is pleased to announce the appointments of Clayton Davis as Vice-President, Students and Campus Experience and Tim Cartmell as Vice-President, Major Projects, effective July 1, 2026.

Championing student success

Since joining the polytechnic in 2005, Clayton Davis has held several senior leadership positions that have provided deep insight into the people, services and operations that support student success. Most recently, he served as Interim Vice-President, Students, Human Resources and International, where he provided steady and collaborative leadership while helping advance initiatives that enhanced the student experience across campus.

As Vice-President, Students and Campus Experience, Davis will provide strategic leadership for Student Services and oversee the International, Legal Services and Human Resources portfolios. His focus will be on supporting staff and strengthening connections with students, ensuring their voices are reflected in decision-making and fostering an inclusive, engaging campus environment.

Clayton serves as a member of the Alberta Labour Relations Board and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta.

Tim Cartmell’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as NAIT prepares to move the Advanced Skills Centre (ASC) from design into construction and delivery, following an accelerated project timeline.

Since joining NAIT earlier this year, Cartmell has played an important role in strengthening project governance, advancing planning activities and building collaboration with ASC partners in preparation for the project’s next phase.

As Vice-President, Major Projects, Cartmell will provide executive leadership for the successful delivery of the ASC through construction and opening. He will also lead exploration of opportunities related to NAIT’s major land holdings, including the adjacent Blatchford property, helping support the institution’s long-term growth and development.

Cartmell brings a unique blend of engineering expertise, capital planning experience and public sector leadership. Tim holds a Master of Engineering in Engineering Management from the University of Alberta.
