About the program

The Culinary Arts program is designed for those who thrive in creative, fast-paced environments and are passionate about crafting exceptional food experiences. This comprehensive program combines hands-on training with real-world applications to prepare you for a successful career in the culinary industry, meeting the growing demand for skilled professionals.  

You’ll develop a wide range of skills, including advanced cooking techniques, menu planning and food preparation for diverse settings. Training emphasizes teamwork, time management, and the ability to excel under pressure. Using the state-of-the-art facilities in the Hokanson Centre for Culinary Arts, you’ll gain practical experience by preparing dishes for Ernest’s, NAIT’s acclaimed fine dining restaurant, and participating in work placements that connect you to industry professionals.  

Graduates of the program are well-equipped for a variety of roles in restaurants, hotels, catering companies, schools and healthcare facilities. With industry-aligned training, this program opens doors to opportunities as a chef, caterer, kitchen manager and entrepreneur. Whether you’re creating dishes for fine dining establishments or leading a culinary team, the Culinary Arts program sets you up for success in this dynamic and rewarding field.
